You will not require a smartphone to use Discord on the XBOX

Microsoft is likely to remove a major irritation with Discord voice conversations on Xbox. In a forthcoming update, Xbox users will no longer need to utilize a phone to join Discord audio conversations, enabling them to connect directly to calls in servers. This will make connecting to Discord servers and speaking with friends much simpler.

These modifications are now available to Xbox Insiders in the Alpha and Skip-Ahead Alpha rings, and they enable you to explore all voice channels across any Discord servers you’re in. Connecting no longer needs you to use the Xbox or Discord mobile applications to transmit the call, and once your account is connected for the first time, you may easily join directly from your Xbox.

The only thing that’s currently lacking is the option to join Discord text conversations from Xbox. It’s unclear if Microsoft and Discord will ever provide this feature, but the speech experience is becoming a lot better. The only time you’ll need your phone anymore is to make a straight Discord call to a buddy rather than speaking on a server. The mobile app will still be required to transfer the call to your Xbox.
