WWE Superstars are now playable in Tekken 7

Several WWE Superstars may now be employed as in-game combatants thanks to a new Tekken 7 mod. Since Tekken 7’s release in 2015, fans of the legendary fighting game have smartly found methods to keep the game fresh. WWE Superstar Xavier Woods, who often highlights the game on his YouTube channel UpUpDownDown, is one of its greatest admirers.

Woods has become somewhat of a gaming ambassador in the culture since launching UpUpDownDown. When he makes fresh material for the channel, he often features other WWE Superstars like Alexa Bliss and Liv Morgan, as well as his stablemates from The New Day. As a result, contests amongst the Superstars are common, with Tekken 7 serving as a consistent fixture when the crew wishes to fight against one another.

Woods recently played Tekken 7 with other superstars on UpUpDownDown, but he surprised everyone when he announced that someone had made a mod to add them to the game. In a previous episode, Woods and partner Kofi Kingston revealed their altered characters. However, the two went a step further by inviting Ricochet, Mansoor, and The Usos, as well as enabling the others to utilise their own character models. The WWE Superstars have featured in numerous non-wrestling games, but this unauthorised mod illustrates how they fit in fighting games like Tekken.

Because the 3D models were pulled from their WWE 2K22 appearance, their outfits are inspired by that game. In the mod, Xavier Woods replaced King, while Kofi Kingston replaced Bryan Fury. Ricochet, Mansoor, and The Usos, on the other hand, utilised Marshall Law, Shaheen, Dragunov, and Leroy, respectively. To avoid seeming lost in the action, the characters they substituted do some WWE wrestling manoeuvres.

It is pretty enlightening to watch it work the other way around as fans of the WWE 2K series often play with characters from other games. With King, Armor King, and Marduk already having wrestling credentials, it’s not out of the question that WWE will be involved in the action. In fact, Tekken 7 previously collaborated with New Japan Pro Wrestling, cementing the Tekken and wrestling tie even further.

Since Tekken 8 has previously been hinted at, the series could think about accepting the WWE for a branding alliance. WWE (and Xavier Woods) might offer a similar contract to NJPW, benefiting all parties. Furthermore, Tekken 7 and Bandai Namco aren’t strangers to branded alliances and guest characters in their games, so it wouldn’t be odd to see the two titans collaborate.
