Volkswagen just teased an all-new Golf!!

Did you catch the latest on the Volkswagen Golf over in Europe? Even with VW ditching the iconic hatchback in the US, it’s still hugely popular across the pond – they’ve moved 166,304 units in 2022 so far!

And VW boss Thomas Schäfer just revealed an official Golf facelift is dropping in 2024 to keep momentum going. In a new video highlighting big product launches, they teased the refreshed Golf wagon most of us Stateside fans won’t get to enjoy. We’re talking new headlights, a slick “unibrow” LED strip up front, illuminated VW badge…the works!

Now word is the current Mk8 generation will wrap up soon when the Mk8.5 version debuts early next year with modest tweaks. But afterward, VW confirmed the Mk9 goes all-electric in 2028 when it moves to their upcoming SSP platform. No surprises there as VW shifts to EVs in Europe starting 2033!

Even if the 2024 Mk8.5 won’t top the sales charts again, test mules out this year give clues. Inside there’s a big touchscreen like we see in the Tiguan and Passat. The fan-favorite GTI will keep a manual transmission option rather than going fully DSG. And get this – rumors suggest more power for the hot hatch! Same likely goes for the range-topping Golf R wagon – yeah, keeping that one alive apparently!
