Twitter CEO fires senior executives and stops recruiting

Jay Sullivan, with whom we spoke in March about Twitter’s goals to acquire 100 million daily users, will now serve as both the president of product and the interim head of revenue. These developments come as Elon Musk presses on with his $44 billion purchase of Twitter, albeit he has not yet assumed ownership of the firm.

“At the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, the choice was made to invest aggressively to provide substantial growth in audience and revenue, and as a company, we did not hit intermediate milestones that permit confidence in these ambitions,” Agrawal said in an internal memo obtained.

“We can confirm that Kayvon Beykpour and Bruce Falck are departing Twitter,” said Twitter spokesperson Adrian Zamora in a statement. “Jay Sullivan is the new general manager of Bluebird and the interim general manager of Goldbird. Except for business vital roles, we are halting most hiring and backfills as of this week. We are reducing non-labor costs to guarantee that we are responsible and efficient.”
