The Joy of Painting is a mod for the popular role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, created by modder Merlord. This mod adds a new and exciting feature to the game by allowing players to carry a field easel on their back and use it as a portable art station. This feature enables players to create oil and watercolour paintings, as well as ink and charcoal sketches. These paintings are not only preserved in the game environment but they can also be exported as high-definition photographs and shared on social media or printed.
The mod includes a “dynamic painting mechanic with real-time animated brushstrokes,” a “painting skill that determines the value of your creations as well as their visual quality,” and “over a dozen brush-crafting recipes including paper moulds to make your own paper as well as recipes for canvases, parchment, brushes, easels, and canvases.” The mod even includes a craftable notebook where players can save and see their doodles. Merlord also intends to include a buying art materials and commission system for interactions with non-player characters in the future.
