The Ferrari Daytona SP3 joins the Lego Technic portfolio
With the new LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3, supercar enthusiasts can now sit in the driver’s seat of Ferrari’s latest masterpiece. This 3,778-piece model is jam-packed with elements and functionality that symbolize the unequaled sports racer’s engineering skill and exquisite design.
The new 1:8 scale LEGO Technic model captures the essence of racing spirit at the core of the Ferrari brand, with a working 8-speed sequential gearbox with paddle shifter, a V12 engine with moving pistons, and beautiful silver lacquered rims. Fans can get even closer to the action by emulating the exquisite design and smooth aerodynamics of the Ferrari Daytona SP3 as they create this traffic-stopping red model.
A pair of operational butterfly doors open to reveal the elegant interior with a fully replicated cockpit and the prancing horse insignia adorning the steering wheel, completing this imaginative model. When fully assembled, this fourth member of the LEGO Technic Ultimate Car Concept series stands over 5.5 inches (14 cm) tall, 23 inches (59 cm) long, and 9.5 inches (25 cm) broad. Speaking about the show-stopping model, Niels B. Christiansen, LEGO Group CEO said: “This model is a testament to the pursuit of excellence that lies at the core of the Ferrari and LEGO Group ethos. No detail has been overlooked in the design and as someone with an engineering background myself, I’m blown away by the attention to detail and precision of the model on such as small scale. We’re incredibly lucky to be able to partner with Ferrari to help fans turn their dreams into a reality as they build this standout example of racing excellence for real with this new set.”
Ferrari and the LEGO Group have opened their doors to allow supercar fanatics a sneak glimpse behind the scenes of the model’s design in an exclusive coffee table style book for fans who want to get even closer to the action. The book delves into the innovation and engineering excellence that unites both brands, as well as a closer look at the collaborative process of conceptualizing, designing, and producing the model, with interviews from LEGO Group and Ferrari designers, as well as third-generation LEGO Group owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen on why the model means so much to him.
The LEGO Technic Ferrari Daytona SP3 will be available exclusively through LEGO Certified Stores beginning June 1, 2022, and will then be offered at select retailers beginning October 1, 2022.
