The Comixology app is finally being killed by Amazon

Amazon is breaking up with Comixology, and users are getting the “we need to talk” notification. Starting December 4, the Comixology app will officially retire, and all your comic stash will move in with the Kindle app. Yep, it’s like your favorite comics are moving in with a new roommate.

So, what does this mean for you? Well, your reading progress will tag along, but you’ll have to redownload everything on the Kindle app to continue your adventures. It’s like moving day for your comics!

For the die-hard Comixology fans, it might be a bit of a bummer. Amazon has been nudging Comixology toward this fate for a while now. They started by shutting down the browser version in 2022, making some comics nearly unreadable on the Kindle app. And let’s not forget the clunky search experience when looking for titles in the Amazon store.

But hey, if you’re into the Kindle vibe, things will still feel familiar. You can filter to see just “Comics & Manga” or “Books,” so it’s not a total mixed-up reunion.

For now, the process of buying comics and keeping up with your Comixology Unlimited subscriptions won’t change much.
