Tesla recalls one million vehicles due to a finger-pinching window problem
Tesla is recalling around 1 million cars because its windows may pinch a person’s fingers when rolled up.
According to materials uploaded on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website on September 19, the window automated reversal mechanism may not respond effectively after sensing an impediment. This problem might lead a window to pinch a person’s fingers if they are on top of it while it rises, “raising the risk of damage,” according to the NHTSA.
The recall applies to Model 3 cars from 2017 to 2022, Model Y vehicles from 2020 to 2021, and Model S and Model X vehicles from 2021 to 2022. Tesla will correct the problem with a free over-the-air software upgrade.
