Given that he would take credit for the player’s successful harvests in Stardew Valley, it is understandable that he would do so out of jealousy if his own farming efforts are less than brilliant.
It’s entertaining to hypothesise as to why the enigmatic crops are in the festival display of the shady shop owner in Pelican Town, whatever the reasons may be. Small nuances like these being brought out by fans and acknowledged by the game’s developer show how Stardew Valley can maintain a vibrant community despite being a primarily single-player game published years ago. Because Stardew Valley version 1.6 has not yet been published, it is possible that the mystery crop will have a function other than Pierre’s presentation.
