Sony has released firmware updates for its WH-1000XM5 headphones and WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds, adding new features to enhance user experience. For the headphones, firmware version 2.0.2 enables LDAC to be available during a multipoint Bluetooth connection, allowing users to stream high-quality, lossless audio content while connected to multiple devices. The update also introduces support for dynamic head tracking, which adjusts the audio output according to the position of the user’s head, creating an immersive experience similar to Spatial Audio on AirPods Max.
For the earbuds, firmware version 2.0.1 adds support for the beta version of LE (Low Energy) Audio, a new Bluetooth standard that offers improved audio quality and reduced power consumption. However, this feature is currently limited to Xperia 1 IV and Xperia 5 IV smartphone users with the latest software update. The update also enhances audio quality during hands-free calls.
The firmware updates can be downloaded from Sony’s website via the Headphones Connect app for both the headphones and earbuds. It is unclear if Sony plans to roll out similar upgrades to other products, but users can stay tuned for any announcements from the company regarding future updates.
