Samsung Unveils ViewFinity S9 5K Display, Set to Launch in August at $1,599 Price Point

Samsung’s ViewFinity S9 5K monitor is finally making its way to the United States, offering both Mac and PC users the opportunity to purchase it for $1,599. The monitor, which was announced at CES in January and released in South Korea in June, is targeted towards creatives.

Designed with features such as HDR 600 support, a matte display to minimize glares, and Eye Saver Mode for extended usage, the 27-inch ViewFinity S9 5K monitor aims to provide an optimal viewing experience. It boasts a resolution of 5,120 x 2,880, 99 percent DCI-P3 color gamut coverage, and 221 pixels per inch. Calibration options are available through the SmartThings app, allowing users to adjust gamma settings, white balance, luminance, color temperature, and color space. The monitor also includes a 4K camera and is compatible with both PC and Mac.

Interestingly, the ViewFinity S9 5K monitor is priced the same as its competitor, the 27-inch Apple Studio Display, which was released in early 2022. While both monitors have a 60Hz refresh rate, the ViewFinity S9 5K offers additional features without any extra cost compared to Apple’s Studio Display. Apple charges an extra $400 for height and angle adjustment, and a significant $2,299 for a nano-texture glass display. Furthermore, the S9 5K includes a 4K webcam, whereas Apple offers a 12MP option. Considering these factors, Samsung’s ViewFinity S9 5K monitor may be a more appealing choice in terms of value for the price. The monitor will be available in stores in August, allowing users to assess its capabilities firsthand.
