PayPal introduces passkey functionality in the United States to facilitate logins and checkouts

To enable the function, log in to your account using a browser on desktop or mobile — the old-fashioned way, with your user ID and password — and then choose “Create a passkey.” Your passkey will be produced automatically when you verify with Apple Face ID or Touch ID. You only need to do this once since passkeys are synchronized with iCloud Keychain. If you’re signing into your account on a device that doesn’t currently support passkey, you’ll be prompted to create a QR code after entering your user ID. You may then log in by scanning the QR code with an iPhone that supports passkey.
