New Samba de Amigo Game Coming to Apple Arcade this Month

Get ready to shake your maracas and groove to the beat as Samba de Amigo, Sega’s classic maraca-shaking rhythm franchise, is making its way to Apple Arcade. The game will be available on Apple platforms and Nintendo Switch on August 29th, and a VR port for Meta Quest is also scheduled to launch later this fall.

Samba de Amigo: Party-To-Go, the Apple Arcade version, will feature 40 hit songs from various genres, allowing players to enjoy popular tracks while shaking their virtual maracas. The Apple version will have some exclusive songs, including “The Edge of Glory” by Lady Gaga, “Daddy” by Psy (of “Gangnam Style” fame), and “The Walker” by Fitz and the Tantrums. The title emphasizes its portability, making it perfect for gaming on the go.

While Sega and Apple haven’t revealed many gameplay details specific to the Apple Arcade version, it will have the series’ first story mode. Players will embark on a quest with Amigo to return lost music to the world.

Apple Arcade subscribers will be able to play Samba de Amigo on various Apple devices, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. While the App Store listing doesn’t provide explicit details on controls, it’s likely that players can use their phone as a faux maraca, with touchscreen controls as a fallback. External controllers will also be supported.

The Switch version of Samba de Amigo, titled Samba de Amigo: Party Central, will use Joy-Cons for control, while the Meta Quest version will rely on its Touch Controllers.

Samba de Amigo: Party-To-Go will be available on the App Store on August 29th. Apple Arcade subscription costs $5 per month after a one-month free trial, and all games on the platform are free of in-app purchases. The Switch version will be priced at $40, and the Quest VR variant will be $30. Whether you’re a seasoned Samba de Amigo fan or new to the series, get ready to dance and have a blast with this rhythm game on Apple Arcade.
