At CES 2023, MSI is announcing updates to almost every single one of their laptop lines, but the Raider GE and Stealth Studio models are definitely worth checking out.
Starting with the Raider GE78, you’re getting faster 13th-gen Intel chips and an Nvidia RTX 4090 GPU, as well as new IPS displays with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio. According to MSI, these updates lead to some serious jumps in performance, with gains of up to 45% or more in both general computing and graphics compared to the previous models. The Raider’s chassis has also been updated with a new matrix lightbar that’s brighter and more colourful, and when you turn off the LEDs, it almost completely disappears thanks to the smoky plastic in front. Other features include a huge 99.9-watt-hour battery, a physical webcam shutter, and an IR sensor for Windows Hello. There’s a good selection of ports too, including a full-size SD card reader and various USB connectors.
Now, my personal favourite might be the new Stealth 14 Studio and Stealth 16 Studio models. MSI has completely redesigned the chassis with a magnesium-aluminium alloy, making it both strong and lightweight, and added some cool new paint jobs in pure white and star blue. The new Stealth Studios also have vapour chambers to help with thermals and six-speaker audio, as well as larger trackpads and 16:10 displays. And despite their slim dimensions, there’s still room for a microSD card slot.
Unfortunately, we don’t have pricing information yet for these laptops, but the Raider line is set to release in mid-February and the Stealth Studios will arrive a couple of weeks later.
