Insomniac Games finally respond to the Wolverine leaks

Insomniac Games just went through an absolute nightmare. Over 1.3 million private files got hacked right off their systems – I can’t even imagine how violating that must feel. When they finally put out a statement, you could hear how upset and angry they were over the whole mess. They said it’s been “extremely distressing” on all their people.

Somehow even with this massive attack, they insist that work on Marvel’s Wolverine is still full steam ahead for its PlayStation 5 release. You gotta hand it to them for powering through. But at the same time, they were real about the mental toll this hack has taken on morale around the studio.

Get this – the data that got taken has personal info on employees past and present, contractors – even early details on the Wolverine game they were working on. So this definitely got personal.

The hackers hitting them up? These Rhysida punks took credit, bragging about getting into Insomniac’s systems in record time. If you can believe it, they demanded $2 million or they’d sell and publish all the data they stole. Who knows what’s already leaked out there…

And we’re talking gameplay footage, files on the Spiderman sequel, private HR documents, messages between devs – just a nasty, full-on assault to get all this.

But even with this nightmare, Insomniac is standing strong. They talked about how the Wolverine character doesn’t fold under pressure, and that’s what they’re channeling now. The game’s still early in production, but they say that’s normal, titles are always evolving. Despite the crap these hackers pulled, Insomniac is just keeping focused on delivering something special that we can all enjoy.
