If Apple gets the algorithm right, the Watch Series 8 could include body temperature measurement

The Apple Watch Series 8 was speculated to include body temperature measurement, however, a report earlier this year said that an Apple Watch with a body temperature sensor would not be available for at least another year. However, famous analyst Ming-Chi Kuo currently believes that the Watch Series 8 with body temperature measurement could still be released in H2 2022.

According to Kuo, body temperature measurement was not included in last year’s Watch Series 7 since the measuring algorithm failed to qualify before entering EVT (engineering validation test).

It is critical to get the algorithm right in order to produce reliable results because a smartwatch cannot support hardware for core temperature measurement and must rely on skin temperature, which varies rapidly depending on outside surroundings.

As a result, if the algorithm fulfills Apple’s quality requirements before mass production of the Watch Series 8 begins, the wristwatch will include body temperature monitoring; otherwise, we’ll have to wait even longer for an Apple Watch that can measure body temperature.

According to the expert, Samsung is also encountering similar issues with its Galaxy Watch 5, and the wristwatch may not be able to record body temperatures due to algorithm constraints.
