When mobile phones were a few generations old, most of the tasks were manually performed. One such task was adding and sharing contacts. Every time you bought a new smartphone or feature phone, the first thing you would do is work on how to transfer the contacts between the devices. One option was to export the contacts and then share it with the new device. If for some reason, this did not work, the only option was to manually enter the contacts into the new device.
However, with the emergence of the Android OS and its deep integration with your Google account, transferring contacts between devices is almost automatic. The only thing you need to ensure is that your Google Account on the present Android smartphone has the contact syncing option turned on.
