Step 6. Click on the ‘Restart‘ button on the bottom right hand side of the Task Manager.
Step 7. Your Desktop icons will disappear for a couple of seconds and re-appear. This indicates that the File Explorer has been restarted on your Windows 10 PC/Laptop.
If the problem persists, you should run a virus scan with the in-built Windows Defender application or check for pending updates. Microsoft keeps pushing out bug fixes and optimisations on a regular basis in the form of updates to apps or to the OS as a whole. Make sure you keep an eye out for those as well.
