Honkai: Star Rail Initial File Size Revealed Ahead of Launch

Honkai: Star Rail, the highly-anticipated sci-fi RPG from HoYoverse, has officially opened pre-installations for PC and mobile devices ahead of its scheduled release on April 26th. As fans prepare for the game’s launch, they can now get a glimpse of the game’s file size, with PC players needing to allocate 10.12 GB of storage space and mobile players requiring just over 7 GB.

Honkai: Star Rail differs significantly from its HoYoverse predecessors, Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd, with the game shedding the action RPG combat for a turn-based combat system that features more strategic tactics in battle. The game boasts a similar element system to other HoYoverse RPGs, with elements directly affecting characters with different strengths and weaknesses.

With over 10 million pre-registrations, Honkai: Star Rail is set to make a big impact on its official release. Fans who pre-registered for the game will receive a variety of in-game rewards, including a free four-star character and “Star Rail Passes” used as the main currency for the game’s gacha system.

HoYoverse will be looking to replicate the success of their flagship title, Genshin Impact, which has become one of the most popular free-to-play RPGs since its debut in 2020. Genshin Impact’s gacha banners have grossed millions for HoYoverse, with some of its highest-earning banners bringing over $40 million USD in China iOS sales alone.

Honkai: Star Rail will launch on April 26th for PC and mobile devices, with PlayStation versions set to come at a later date. As fans eagerly await the official release, they can now pre-install the game and prepare to board the Astral Express.
