Mapping

Meaning – The term mapping, refers to the process of converting data that is transmitted in one format by the sender into the data format that can be accepted by the receiver.

A lot of data is exchanged between users or groups throughout the day. Now, while most of the data transfer happens without a hitch, there are some cases where one user may be using a different platform from the other user and in such cases, the files have to be mapped in order to allow the recipient to open the file on the platform. This feature is very useful as there are thousands of users around the world who use different platforms and mapping allows the file to get transferred and accessed seamlessly across the systems.

Example of usage “The file he had made was on one software, while the recipient was using alternative software. Thus, the file he was trying to send had to be mapped in order for the recipient to open the file.”
