Meaning – The term fax, refers to the process of sending and receiving data, predominantly images, by converting them from an image to a signal, and then back into an image on the receiver end.
The main hardware component that goes into making this process successful, is a facsimile machine, also known as a fax machine. Today, fax machines have become obsolete, thanks to the emergence of emails and cloud solutions that allow people to share not just images, but all kinds of data, without a hassle. There are still some organisations that employ the use of fax machines, but they too, are slowly transitioning to the modern techniques and technologies.
Example of usage – “She was shocked to see the organisation using fax machines to transmit data between each other and client. She urged the management to take up modern technologies that are more secure and hassle free.”
