Exploring Azeroth: Pandaria – A Look into the Lore and History of World of Warcraft’s Exotic Land

World of Warcraft today confirmed its latest edition in the Exploring Azeroth mythology book series is heading to stores later this year. The next World of Warcraft lore book is bringing players to the eastern-themed region created in the Mists of Pandaria expansion.

Exploring Azeroth is a series of World of Warcraft lore books whose sections take a deeper look at a single region through the prism of a handful of popular lore figures. So far, Blizzard has produced three Exploring Azeroth books set on the Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, and Northrend, each narrated by a few of renowned characters from World of Warcraft.

This makes Exploring Azeroth: Pandaria the fourth instalment in this specific line of lore books. This next World of Warcraft novel is based on Li Li Stormstout and her uncle Chen, as well as their swashbuckling friend Catelyn the Blade, as they “wander the realm seeking adventure and discovery, and [learn] what it means to leave–and return–home.” This post is authored by Alex Acks, author of Exploring Azeroth: Northrend, and is slated to be published on October 17, 2023.

Previous Exploring Azeroth books have been the subject of significant attention in the past. While Exploring Azeroth: Eastern Kingdoms was largely well-received, Exploring Azeroth: Kalimdor was critiqued for its dependence on outmoded preconceptions. Reviews of Exploring Azeroth: Northrend were largely good, however, players were a bit disappointed in the book’s hesitance to grow beyond pre-existing mythology of the zones. As Exploring Azeroth: Pandaria is authored by the same author, players may anticipate a fun and colourful journey around zones like the Jade Forest and the Wandering Isle.

Players are interested to see what Exploring Azeroth: Pandaria brings to the series. Though Mists of Pandaria was first criticised for its deviation from traditional atmospheres, it ultimately became one of the finest expansions in World of Warcraft’s history. Fans of Li Li and Chen are particularly pleased to discover what they have been up to in recent years, and cannot wait to see the fantastic new work included in the Exploring Azeroth series.

World of Warcraft enthusiasts has a lot of books coming out this year. A is for Azeroth: The ABCs of World of Warcraft is due out in July, while The Dragonflight Codex: A Definitive Guide to the Dragons of Azeroth arrives in August. Additionally, World of Warcraft has revealed an unidentified book is coming in October. Fans will have plenty of reasons to visit their local bookshops in the downtime between updates in Dragonflight.
