EA and Marvel will collaborate on “at least three” new console and PC action-adventure games. Motive Studio’s already-announced Iron Man title is the first game under production.
We might be waiting a long time for any definite news on the games. The Motive team is “getting started” on the Iron Man game, according to Marvel Games senior vice president Jay Ong, and “we can’t wait for players to discover more in the long future.” If the information on the one revealed title will be released in the “distant future,” it may be a long time before we hear anything about the others.
The announcement is the latest addition to Disney’s growing library of Marvel games, which also includes the hit new card game Marvel Snap, the upcoming Midnight Suns strategy game from X-COM developers, and a mysterious new title featuring Black Panther and Captain America from former Uncharted creative director Amy Hennig.
It’s also another sign of Disney’s faith in EA to manage major intellectual properties. Earlier this year, the two firms announced a three-game Star Wars cooperation, with Apex Legends creator Respawn Entertainment directing development. One of the games under development is Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, a successor to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
