Marvel fans have long speculated about the connection between Insomniac’s Marvel’s Wolverine, the Spider-Man series, and the character Logan, a.k.a. Wolverine. Now, thanks to a recent interview with Bryan Intihar, the senior creative director of Spider-Man 2, it’s official: all three heroes coexist in the same universe.
Intihar made this revelation during an interview with Kinda Funny Games, confirming that these characters share a universe with the designation “1048.” Marvel, known for its multiverse approach, assigns distinct universes to its various storylines. For instance, Universe 616 is home to the main comic book series, while the Marvel Cinematic Universe resides in Universe 199999.
In the same interview, Intihar shed light on the decision not to include Wolverine Easter Eggs in Spider-Man 2. The development team opted to focus solely on the Spider-Man narrative, explaining, “I’m just trying to learn how to make Spider-Man or try to get Spider-Man off the ground. While there’s another Marvel thing I’m trying to get.” He emphasized the importance of allowing the other team to fully concentrate on creating the Wolverine game they envision.
This aligns with Intihar’s previous comments, as he stressed the significance of providing a clear path for the Wolverine game’s development. While details about Marvel’s Wolverine remain scarce, it’s known that the game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive. Marvel enthusiasts eagerly await more news and updates from Insomniac as they continue to expand their Marvel gaming universe.
