Given that ‘Orion’ is still in the conceptual design phase, it’s unlikely that major updates on its development will be available anytime soon. While fans eagerly await more content in the Cyberpunk universe, it’s worth noting that the first game took approximately nine years to develop. However, with the experience gained from Cyberpunk 2077, it’s hopeful that the sequel’s development timeline will be more streamlined.
In the same presentation, CD Projekt Red shared significant milestones. Cyberpunk 2077 has achieved sales of 25 million copies since its launch in 2020, while Phantom Liberty reached three million sales within its first week. CEO Adam Kici?ski highlighted that the sci-fi RPG is outselling its predecessor, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, in terms of the speed at which it’s reaching sales milestones. He noted, “The phenomenal Witcher 3 achieved a similar level in 4.5 years, and here [in Cyberpunk’s case], a little bit over two years [since its release]. We are selling far faster than we were selling The Witcher game.” This success highlights the enduring popularity of the Cyberpunk franchise.
