Bigger and Better: Apple Set to Unveil 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros Tomorrow

Apple may not have to wait long to reveal its first items for 2023. Apple will make a product announcement tomorrow, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, 9to5Mac, MacRumors, and Front Page Tech (aka Jon Prosser). While most specifications are unclear, Gurman suggests these might be the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro M2 variants he mentioned last autumn.

Gurman said at the time that these systems would have the same design as the M1 models that will be introduced in late 2021. They would be centred on new M2 Pro and M2 Max processors, with up to 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU cores in the Max. In other words, there would be no touchscreen or other big changes. You’d mostly get one to get the greatest performance out of a Mac laptop.

They may, however, be the first Macs to have WiFi 6E. Wade Penner, a Twitter user, discovered an unreleased MacBook Pro in a Canadian wireless database that supports the latest WiFi standard’s 6GHz frequency. On a busy local network, as long as you have a compatible router, you should observe faster maximum speeds, reduced latency, and less congestion. Apple’s iPad Pro M2 already supports WiFi 6E.

There hasn’t been any indication of other products launching around the same time, so don’t expect a Mac mini M2 or other updates. If the reports are true, this may be fantastic news for anybody who has been holding off on purchasing a MacBook Pro in order to receive the most up-to-date technology.
