Bernie Ecclestone gives Mick Schumacher an F1 Career reality check

In the interview with RTL, former Formula 1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone advised Mick Schumacher to “forget” his dream of racing in Formula 1. Schumacher, who is backed by Ferrari as a junior driver, was promoted to F1 in 2021 after winning the Formula 2 championship with Prema Racing.

However, he struggled to replicate that success with Haas, frequently crashing out of races and failing to score points. As a result, he lost his race seat with the team and was left without any options for the 2023 season.

Despite this setback, Schumacher was signed as a reserve driver for Mercedes. But Ecclestone believes that Schumacher should pursue an alternative career path outside of F1.

“He has to forget this dream, because sooner or later we all wake up from a dream,” Ecclestone said in the interview. “He has to forget that and start thinking about what the alternative is and try to pursue that.”

While Ecclestone’s comments may seem harsh, it is worth noting that he is known for his blunt assessments of drivers and teams in the sport. Schumacher, however, has not responded publicly to Ecclestone’s advice.
