Aston Martin Remains Cautious Despite Strong Performance in Bahrain F1 Test

Aston Martin is not getting carried away by its performance in the Bahrain pre-season test and is staying grounded, according to team principal Otmar Szafnauer. Despite impressing with a consistent pace and a strong showing on long runs, Szafnauer has reminded everyone that testing results are not always indicative of what will happen in the actual races.

Last year, the team finished P4, P4 and P10 over the three days of testing and yet, they were out in Q1 in the race. Szafnauer emphasized that the team’s objective is to make a step forward in the performance of the car and the team as a whole, and they are keeping their goals in mind.

The team principal acknowledged that the car’s race simulation was not bad, but the conditions on the track were favorable. He stated that it is important not to lose perspective and not to start dreaming, as there are no miracles in Formula One.

Szafnauer’s comments come after rival teams have taken notice of the Aston Martin’s testing performance, with its long-run pace and Fernando Alonso’s performance being particularly noteworthy. Nevertheless, Aston Martin is taking a cautious approach and remaining realistic, looking to make incremental improvements rather than getting carried away with the hype.
