Apple Park was evacuated in part after an envelope containing a white powder material was discovered

A portion of the Apple Park campus in Cupertino was evacuated following the discovery of an envelope containing a white powder material by first responders. According to the Santa Clara County Fire Department’s incident report, Apple’s headquarters received a fire alarm and hazmat response shortly after noon local time.

Emergency workers have since concluded that the situation is under control, and staff has presumably been permitted to return inside, the publication reports. It is unknown what the material was.

According to an email obtained later that day, Apple informed employees at Apple Park that “authorities found that no dangerous chemicals were present.”

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the situation. Apple will begin a “phased approach” to its hybrid work program in April, after deferring return-to-office plans for its staff numerous times.
