We’re eagerly anticipating the successors to the Google Pixel Buds Pro, which launched in May 2022. A flurry of recent leaks suggests that the next versions of the wireless earbuds are imminent.
The first leak, from Android Headlines, shows high-quality, unofficial renders of the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2. The case appears slightly bulkier but mostly similar to the previous version. The earbuds themselves seem to have a slight redesign, featuring a new bulge near the ear tip, possibly for added stabilization, reminiscent of the original Pixel Buds design. The new colors expected are Charcoal, Porcelain, Aloe (to match the Pixel 8a), and Hot Pink. Currently, the Pixel Buds Pro are available in Charcoal, Porcelain, Bay, Fog, Lemongrass, and Coral.
Another leak from Dealabs (via 9to5Google) hints at the pricing of the Google Pixel Buds Pro 2: they’re apparently going to cost $229 / £219 (about AU$350), or €249 in Europe. For comparison, the Pixel Buds Pro cost $199 / £179 / AU$299 at launch, though there have been several discounts since then. It seems the new earbuds will be slightly more expensive than their predecessors.
These leaks follow another recent leak showing the design of the Pixel Buds Pro 2 and their case. The increasing frequency of these leaks suggests that the official launch of these earbuds is approaching. With Google having already scheduled a hardware launch event for Tuesday, August 13, it seems like the perfect time to unveil the Pixel Buds Pro 2, though the main stars of the show are expected to be the Google Pixel 9 phones.
