Breaking Bad’s Walter White may perhaps join the fighting game’s roster in 2023, according to a MultiVersus developer. Since the mid-2022 release of MultiVersus, Walter White has grown to be one of the game’s most well-known memes. Although the meme’s popularity has shown that Walter White, the evil meth chemist from Breaking Bad, would be a highly successful addition, the first calls for Walter White to join MultiVersus’ roster were made in jest.
Since the release of MultiVersus, the game’s creator, Player First Games, has been rapidly releasing additional characters. The Warner Bros. universe is where these characters first appeared. After the show’s debut, Rick and Morty and The Rock’s portrayal of Black Adam were added to the cast. Now in MultiVersus are Gizmo and Stripe of Gremlins. Lebron James, who just starred in Space Jam: A New Legacy, is also on the roster, demonstrating that everyone is allowed to participate in the fighting game.
With a recent tweet, MultiVersus senior character artist Dan Eder sparked excitement for Walter White’s debut in the next year. Happy New Year wishes and “huge surprises” were promised in a post from Player First Games. The only way I’ll have a nice 2023 is if we see Walter White join MultiVersus, said a fan account created solely to beg for Walter White in MultiVersus. Eder responded in turn, writing, “Expect excellent things,” in response to the fan account.

Of course, Eder isn’t saying outright that Walter White is joining the MultiVersus cast. Fans are sure to take his message to heart even though he makes no guarantees and leaves a lot of room for interpretation. Since Eder is replying to a fan account directly requesting that Walter White be added to MultiVersus, there isn’t much space for interpretation. For Eder to retract and claim he was referring to something else would be a big step.
However, game creation is a challenging process, and Eder is a concept artist, not MultiVersus’ game director. It doesn’t necessarily follow that Walter White will ever be finalised or that Warner Bros. has given its full OK for Walter White to be included, even if Eder was aware that work on the character was being done at Player First Games. In other words, even if Eder is sincere when he claims that the release of Walter White is set for 2023, a lot might go wrong.
The only thing MultiVersus players can do is keep requesting that Walter White be included in the game from Player First Games and Warner Bros. Making jokes, sharing memes, and participating in MultiVersus will make sure Player First Games hears what fans want, even if it means giving them the option to defeat Walter White with Superman.
