Ubisoft Unveils New Subscription Tiers: Premium for Day-One Access, Classics for Budget Gamers

Ubisoft just gave its games subscription lineup a big shakeup, rolling out two new tiers: Ubisoft+ Premium and Ubisoft+ Classics.

For $18 per month, Ubisoft+ Premium gets you full access on PC, Xbox and even Amazon Luna cloud gaming. We’re talking every Ubisoft title plus expansions on release day. So when the new Prince of Persia drops on January 18th, subscribers can snag it immediately. Nice perk for super fans eager to play everything ASAP.

Microsoft and Ubisoft recently inked a crazy deal: Activision Blizzard games like Call of Duty will eventually land on Ubisoft+ too. Wild, right? Just another selling point for the premium package.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft hopes to hook more casual players with Ubisoft+ Classics on PC. The $8 monthly fee delivers a solid back catalog of classics like Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Siege. PlayStation owners already access these free through their Plus subscription. But for PC and Xbox gamers lacking a huge library, it could be tempting.

According to Ubisoft, millions have taken the plunge on their subscriptions so far, racking up over 600 million hours of playtime. No wonder they’re expanding the program. Gotta cash in on that recurring revenue and tempting sign-up free trials!

Between these two options, Ubisoft seems to have all bases covered: die-hard fans who want it all immediately, and bargain hunters who just want the hits.

Sure, shelling out yet another monthly gaming fee stings. But with new titles landing day one and even rival Activision games on the way, I get why Ubisoft is betting big on subscriptions.

Game Pass and PlayStation Plus have clearly proven that gamers don’t mind paying a premium for instant and unlimited access these days. We’ll see if Ubisoft can continue convincing us their worlds are worth another $8-$18 each month.
