So, Ubisoft had a bit of a rollercoaster this week with hackers trying to swipe a massive 900GB of data, including the goods from Rainbow Six Siege users, according to the folks at VX-Underground. But hey, Ubisoft wasn’t having any of it. They caught wind of the breach just 48 hours later and slammed the door on those hackers before they could make off with the loot.
When asked about the whole ordeal, Ubisoft was all like, “Yeah, we heard about it, and we’re checking it out. No big revelations to share right now, though.” Now, here’s where it gets interesting. VX-Underground spilled some tea, sharing redacted screenshots from the hacker’s escapade. Apparently, they nosed around in Microsoft Teams chats, Ubisoft’s SharePoint server, Confluence, and MongoDB Atlas. The catch is, these hackers are keeping tight-lipped about how they snuck in through the back door.
The hackers had their eyes on the Rainbow Six Siege jackpot, but guess what? They left empty-handed. Still, the burning question is whether they scooped up any juicy details before Ubisoft shut the whole party down.
