Twitter is experiencing yet another global outage

The DownDetector sites for Twitter are booming in activity — again — and people are commenting that the social network seems to be failing for them. Thousands of users have reported problems accessing Twitter.com and seeing only a “Welcome to Twitter” message in their timeline with no messages in the last several hours. Others have reported that their Android and iOS timelines were stuck in the past.

Twitter’s Help account has yet to give an official announcement, however, certain aspects of the website are still operational. Users may still tweet and read and reply to their alerts. Surprisingly, Tweetdeck looks unaffected.

The outage occurs only days after the corporation apparently lay off additional workers. According to many reports, Twitter freed over 200 employees on Saturday night, a week after the company’s Slack platform was knocked offline. Esther Crawford, the head of Twitter Blue, is said to be among those impacted. It’s unclear whether the layoffs are related to the downtime, but because Twitter doesn’t have a public relations staff, we’ll have to wait for the firm to publish a statement.
