Formula 1 just wrapped up another thrill ride at Interlagos for the Brazilian Grand Prix, and surprise, surprise, it was pretty much business as usual for the Red Bull team.
Max Verstappen nailed a smooth victory in the sprint, and guess what? He went ahead and did it again on Grand Prix Sunday, making it 17 wins for him this season. Yeah, you heard that right – 17!
Now, here’s the twist in the tale. While Verstappen was conquering Interlagos, the mastermind behind the Red Bull magic, Adrian Newey, was having his own adventure. Nope, he wasn’t soaking in the double victory; instead, he was tearing up the track at the 2023 Classic 24 at Daytona. And, of course, he did it Red Bull style – pure domination. Newey, alongside Ford CEO Farley, was behind the wheel of the legendary 1965 Ford GT40 in Group A, showcasing the classics from the 1950s-70s.
In a chat with The Telegraph, Newey spilled the beans on his calendar, revealing that he won’t be soaking in the glory at Interlagos. Nope, he’s saving his return to Red Bull duties for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The man’s got a plan!
And just to add a cherry on top, Newey dropped the fact that he’ll be clocking in at 16 out of 22 F1 rounds for the 2023 season by year-end. Now, that’s what you call a schedule! “I think I will have done 16 races by the end of the year,” said Newey, “which used to be a full season!” Talk about a power-packed season for the Red Bull maestro.
