The sequel to Spider-Verse has been pushed out until June 2023

The sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been put back by Sony, according to the film’s official Twitter account. Instead of being released on October 7th this year, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will now be released on June 2nd, 2023. Sony had stated that the sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse would be released on April 8, 2022.

It’s unclear what caused the most recent delay, but Christopher Miller, the writer and producer of Across the Spider-Verse, tweeted that it has given the team “More time to make it awesome.”

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is the first of two sequels Sony is preparing in its animated Spider-Man film series, with the second part set for release on March 29th, 2024. Madame Web, a Spider-Man spinoff, will be released on July 7th, 2023.

The animated sequels come after Tom Holland’s last live-action Spider-Man picture, Spider-Man: No Way Home, which was the highest-grossing film of last year.
