According to PG&E, when it begins transporting passengers in 2024, the electrified Angel Island will be California’s first zero-emissions, short-run ferry. California is one of the few states where electric ferries are becoming increasingly frequent. In Canada, the BCFerries service in British Columbia has just begun rolling out battery-hybrid ferries capable of transporting 47 automobiles between the mainland and remote islands. Outside of North America, Stockholm aims to try one of the world’s quickest electric passenger cars this year. The Candela P-12 will transport people between the city centre and Ekerö, a suburban island.
