Sonos Arc 2 Dolby Atmos Soundbar Photos and Details Leak, Showcasing Next-Gen Speaker Tech

Recent leaks suggest that Sonos is developing a successor to its premium Sonos Arc soundbar, codenamed ‘Lasso.’ New images from The Verge reveal that the new speaker may feature advanced audio technology.

The Lasso appears similar to the original Arc in design, featuring a long black plastic body with a single HDMI port and an Ethernet port for a stable internet connection. However, a notable addition is a button with a Bluetooth logo, indicating support for Bluetooth audio playback—a first for a Sonos soundbar. There’s also a physical switch to enable or disable the built-in microphone for added privacy.

The highlight of the Lasso is its rumored incorporation of Mayht technology. Sonos acquired Mayht Holding BV in April 2022, and this technology allows smaller speakers to deliver the power of larger ones. This means the Lasso could offer powerful bass without needing a separate subwoofer, potentially delivering true bass down to around 30Hz.

While it’s expected to be called the Arc 2, this isn’t confirmed. Pricing rumors suggest it could be around $1,200, compared to the original Arc’s $899. The release date is also uncertain, with possibilities ranging from 2024 or later.

For now, these details remain speculative, but Sonos seems to be working on a significant upgrade to its soundbar lineup. Let’s hope this new speaker avoids the issues seen with its recent app refresh.
