SanDisk rocked up to CES 2025 with ‘Creator’ branded products

SanDisk’s new Creator storage lineup, unveiled at CES 2025, aims to attract content creators with sleek designs and versatile options. However, a closer look reveals that many of these products are rebranded versions of existing offerings, often with higher price tags.

For instance, the 8TB SanDisk Creator Desk Drive, priced at $629.99, boasts 1000MB/s sequential read speeds and a vibrant blue design. However, the SanDisk Desk Drive offers similar specs for $549.99—a $80 difference for what appears to be the same device without the “Creator” branding.

SanDisk has also introduced the 1TB Creator microSD Card, designed for Android devices, drones, cameras, and more. With features like temperature, humidity, drop, and water resistance, it seems like a solid choice for creators on the go, priced at $159.99. But the 1TB SanDisk Extreme microSDXC card offers nearly identical capabilities for just $92.99, saving buyers $67.

The Creator Pro Portable SSD, another addition to the lineup, provides up to 4TB of storage and 2000MB/s read speeds. At $349.99, it’s attractive for its performance and blue aesthetic. However, the SanDisk Extreme PRO delivers the same functionality for $299.99, making it a more cost-effective option.

One truly new product in this range is the SanDisk Creator Phone SSD, a MagSafe-compatible drive available in 1TB and 2TB capacities. Though pricing hasn’t been announced, its unique design and functionality make it a genuinely innovative addition.

While the Creator series caters to professionals with style and branding, buyers can often achieve the same performance with non-Creator alternatives at a lower cost.
