Rudol von Stroheim is being added as DLC to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R

The latest JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R DLC contains one of Part 2’s most iconic supporting characters, German cyborg super-soldier Rudol von Stroheim. Bandai Namco and CyberConnect2 have already introduced many DLC characters to the game since it was launched late last year as a version of the 2013 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting game. Part 5 adversary Risotto Nero debuted the game’s season pass in October, with Part 6’s Weather Report and Father Pucchi (Final) arriving in December as a free update. The most recent addition to the fighter comes from one of the franchise’s most successful chapters.

Rudol von Stroheim appears prominently in Battle Tendency, the second instalment of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure trilogy. Von Stroheim first appears as an opponent to Joseph Joestar and the main group, as a Nazi soldier doing research on the enigmatic Pillar Men. As the game develops, the German soldier arrives to assist the Joestar crew in combating the awakened adversaries, losing many limbs and replacing them with weapons prostheses. Von Stroheim’s superior technology is now being used in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R.

A Bandai Namco video introduces All-Star Battle R’s newest fighter, Rudol von Stroheim, reintroducing gamers to his rowdy demeanour and robotic skills. Stroheim’s unique attacks are seen in the trailer, including blasting his cybernetic fist as a projectile and using his chest-mounted gatling rifle. The character’s eye and shoulder lasers are also significant in his assaults and are employed as a weapon against the Pillar Men in the manga. Rudol von Stroheim will make his All-Star Battle R debut on February 3 as part of the Season Pass.

Rudol von Stroheim’s arrival to the game comes after Bandai Namco’s recent success with the newest JoJo fighting game. At the 2022 Game Awards, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting game was nominated for Best Fighting Game but lost to Warner Bros’ MultiVersus. The PC edition of the game has also seen a thriving JoJo mod community, with players re-creating classic graphics from the anime and adding in characters such as Saul Goodman and the Joker.

The recent release of All-Star Battle R was accompanied by substantial changes for the series on the horizon. The anime version of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean has wrapped up as the franchise’s penultimate instalment before the Steel Ball Run universe reset. The ninth, and potentially last, instalment in the series will also be released shortly, with the JOJOLands manga beginning publication next month. As the long-running adventure seems to be coming to an end, All-Star Battle R pays respect to the series’ finest highlights.
