Polestar 5 makes it much-awaited debut

Polestar, the Swedish EV maker recently held its inaugural Polestar Day event in Los Angeles, and much like Apple, they had a slew of announcements related to the future of the brand. But, amongst the various announcements, one that truly took the cake was the unveiling of the Polestar 5. Now, the vehicle is not due till 2025, but it was good to see the car in the flesh, without any disguise.

Polestar has been working on the Polestar 5 for some time now and wants it to take the fight to the likes of the Porsche Taycans and Audi e-tron GTs. The automaker revealed some truly astounding and juicy details of the Polestar 5, and we fear that this will go on to give rise to an even better Polestar 6, sometime in 2026.

Let’s talk about the Polestar 5. Like other EVs, the first thing they revealed was the range. Thanks to the super charging capability, the Polestar 5 will get a 100 mile range after just 5 minutes of charging. The company has called this ‘Xtreme Fast Charging’, but will rely on outlets that can deliver this kind of power.

Coming to the power, the Polestar 5 will be powered by an insane twin motor that will deliver 874bhp and 663lb ft (899Nm) of torque. The car will come with an all-wheel drive setup. As far as the build is concerned, the Polestar 5 will be constructed using a bonded aluminium construction that aims for supercar levels of torsional stiffness, which is fundamental to class-leading ride and handling dynamics.

Polestar hopes that the 5 model will bring the EV enthusiasts back on the brand wagon. The Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 were loved and criticised at the same time, for lacking some excitement. However, the Polestar 5 will be radically different and be the start of a whole new generation of EVs from the brand.
