On September 12th, Apple will release iOS 16 for iPhones

Apple announced today that its next operating system, iOS 16, will be available on September 12th. It initially announced the free update last June at its Worldwide Developers Conference 2022, and a public beta was published in July.

As a consequence, the multitude of features included with the update will come as no surprise. They begin with several enhancements to the lock screen, including the ability to install widgets and personalize their appearance and a new manner of displaying alerts. You’ll be able to modify and remember sent messages (with certain limits), utilize the new iCloud Shared Photo Library to share photographs with your family, and use the Live Text tool to extract text from movies and photos, with additional capabilities.

The new operating system’s release coincides with the release of Apple’s newest iPhones, the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, which will be available for presale on September 9th and in shops on September 16th.

Meanwhile, if you weren’t prepared to install a beta version of iOS 16 on your current iPhone — after all, betas are imperfect — you won’t have to wait long to benefit from these enhancements.
