  • Battery – One of the most critical parts of a smartphone these days is its battery. The Moto G 3rd Gen features a bumped up 2470 mAh battery which is slated to give you a day’s worth of use on a single charge. Reality is not way off either. I took the device for a spin, this is what I have found – If you are one of those users who go easy on your device and only use it for basic tasks like calling, texting and socialising, then this device will take you through most of the day. Unfortunately, the battery isn’t big enough to go past the 24 hour barrier, but it sure comes close. However, if you are someone who really wants to take their smartphones to its very limit, then I suggest you keep a portable charger at the ready, as this phone will likely die out relatively faster. That said, its still better than the Moto G 2nd Gen which featured a less than modest 2047 mAh battery, which just couldn’t take the 3G onslaught I put on it.All in all, the battery on the Moto G 3rd Gen is much better than its predecessor, thus giving it that much more endurance against those small bursts of high activity.

Before I end this article and deliver my verdict, i must make a special mention of the IPX7 certification that Motorola has put into their Moto G 3rd Gen device. IPX7 is probably something you heard when Sony got their water proof phones into the market. The craze caught on and very soon, many other brands tried their hand at this new feature. Motorola has made a wise decision by including this feature into their Moto G, for two reasons – Firstly, because it gives the device, that extra dimension when it comes to endurance, and secondly, because, most mid rangers nowadays come loaded with same or similar features, thus making the segment look fully saturated. The inclusion of a small but effective feature such as this, will definitely set the Moto G 3rd Gen. apart form all the devices in its segment, thus allowing it to retain the mid range crown that it so rightfully defends.
