Modern Warfare 2 Gets Massive Xbox Update

Modern Warfare 2 Gets Massive Xbox Update

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 gamers may now download Update 1.08 for the recently launched first-person shooter game, although Xbox users may be disappointed by how large the update package is. The recent Call of Duty games have had large download sizes, and game updates may be as out of hand. However, the systems getting the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 update are not treated equally.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players on PC, PlayStation 4, and Playstation 5 may get Update 1.08 for less than 1 GB. Those playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox One or Xbox Series X, on the other hand, must download approximately 50 GB of data. It’s unknown why Xbox players must download so much more data than their PC and PlayStation counterparts, but this isn’t the first time this has occurred with a Call of Duty game on Xbox. It’s not the only way Xbox gamers are receiving the short end of the stick with the new game, as Modern Warfare 2 players on Xbox are unable to disable crossplay.

Gamers will want to know what the new Modern Warfare 2 update for Xbox does after they get over the enormous download size. For starters, Modern Warfare 2 attachment tuning has returned. The update also resolves crashing problems that have plagued the game, as well as bug fixes. Furthermore, the patch notes for Modern Warfare 2 Release 1.08 include several changes that will be included in the Season 1 update later in November.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 users may download the Season 1 update on November 16, which includes the Warzone 2.0 battle royale and the new DMZ game mode. It will also contain weapon balance improvements and possibly UI enhancements, but additional details on that front will have to wait until the Season 1 patch notes are released.

The problematic ping mechanism in Modern Warfare 2 has not been corrected in the current version. At launch, a bug caused adversaries tagged with a ping in Modern Warfare 2 to be stuck with it throughout the fight, thus giving the game built-in wallhacks. Infinity Ward intends to solve this issue in the November 16th Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 update, but the functionality will remain disabled in the meanwhile.

Other flaws that will be addressed in future versions include Modern Warfare 2 riot shield users being indestructible, the DDOS Field upgrade glitch, and an issue with helicopter height. Here are the complete MW2 patch notes:

Patch Notes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Update 1.08

General Information

  • We’ve fixed a number of problems that were impacting players on all platforms, including the issue that caused some players who were partying in-game to crash while matching. The upgrade from last night should bring more stability in terms of crashing. We will continue to monitor live problem reports and resolve them as quickly as possible.
  • We have made general game enhancements, such as fixing the issue of certain camos not unlocking throughout advancement.
  1. Fixes for framerate drops.
  2. Known freezing problems were addressed.
  3. Overall performance improvements
  4. Stuttering and latency concerns have been addressed.

PC

  • NVIDIA has released a patch that fixed many major problems. Please ensure that the game is running on driver 526.61.
  • The PC benchmark map has been updated with a more accurate FPS display reading.
  • Follow our friends at Beenox for more information on MW2 on PC.

Weapons

  • We are continuously gathering data on weapon performance and use and will offer thorough updates on weapon balance when Season 01 launches.
  • We stopped the attachment tuning tool last week owing to a problem impacting players who had four or more tuned attachments loaded at the same time. We re-enabled attachment tuning in last night’s update, so players should have no problems fitting attachments to weapons.

Multiplayer

  • Enemy or live ping in multiplayer will stay blocked until a patch is made with the launch of Season 01. This is due to a problem in which some players’ ping stayed after death. KBM players may still risk ping at the moment.
  • In some modes, the player symbol on the minimap will no longer vanish once a player is resurrected.

Maps/Playlists

Third Person Moshpit now includes the Breenbergh Hotel.

There have been no major map updates, however, we have corrected a number of exploits and geometry flaws in the days after debut. We’ll keep addressing minor issues with daily updates.

UI/UX

  • We are still fine-tuning our user interface, and additional information will be included in the Season 01 launch notes.

We are continually monitoring live problems in addition to the modifications we have previously made. At the moment, some of the recognised difficulties are as follows:

  • We are aware of the following concerns, and solutions are being developed.
  • Riot barrier protects against chopper gunners and VTOL
  • DDOS Field upgrade availability fault
  • A problem affects helicopter height, allowing them to escape the map in rare cases.
