Marvel movies on Disney+ get an audio upgrade with DTS for IMAX Enhanced films

Disney+ is adding another audio option to its IMAX Enhanced films, which include several Marvel Cinematic Universe titles. This year, the streaming service will feature IMAX trademark sound by DTS on certain movies, providing viewers with high-fidelity audio to complement the enlarged aspect ratio.

To hear DTS audio, you’ll need suitable equipment. To begin, select IMAX Enhanced-certified TVs from Sony and Hisense, as well as certain AV receivers from Denon, Marantz, and JBL will enable DTS on Disney+. However, no special equipment is required to enjoy IMAX’s increased aspect ratio of 1.90:1, which provides up to 26 per cent taller images during key periods.

Some people may feel that the inclusion of DTS audio helps them better reproduce the IMAX experience at home. Although DTS is a higher bitrate option than Dolby Atmos, many people prefer the latter. You may be able to see a Disney+ movie in either audio format and decide for yourself in the near future.

Meanwhile, Disney+ has revealed the release date for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Starting February 1st, you’ll be able to see the most recent MCU film at home. The film will be available in IMAX Enhanced format.
