Lucid has released a teaser for its three-row Gravity electric SUV

Today, Lucid had more to show than its lower-priced Air models. The long-awaited Gravity SUV has finally been teased by the auto startup. The vehicle will feature the Air’s sweeping visual language while allowing up to three rows of seats for a total of seven passengers. It should also sport a next-generation version of Lucid’s touchscreen-heavy cockpit, as well as a longer range than “any other EV” other than the Air.

The Gravity design and specs are not final, according to the business. What Lucid is displaying currently is mostly what you’d anticipate — a huge people-haulier with amenities like a panoramic top. The three-row arrangement, like Tesla’s Model X, doesn’t offer much space in the rear for passengers or goods. According to Lucid, the back room is “flexible,” so you may not be trapped if you need to transport a huge cargo.

You will have to wait a bit to purchase the SUV. The Gravity will be available for reservations in early 2023, although it will not be available in the United States or Canada until 2024. Customers outside of those nations will have to wait longer, and the company has not specified the price. The EV will almost certainly be pricey, given that the ‘entry’ Air begins at $87,400. Customers who might otherwise choose a Model X, Mercedes EQS SUV, or Polestar 3 will benefit more from this.

Whatever the price, the Gravity might be Lucid’s most significant EV to yet. The Air is speedy, but its sedan form factor restricts its appeal in a market dominated by SUVs. The new approach may help Lucid reach a larger audience, even if the customer will remain confined to rich purchasers ready to take a risk on a new brand.
