The Mac and Macbook devices are truly international, in the sense that they are available almost everywhere in the world, and also support inputs in all major languages spoken across the planet. Now, obviously, in some regions, the QWERTY keyboard is what comes as a standard in the laptops or the computer keyboards, but what Apple has done, very intelligently, is that they have mapped relevant keys on the keyboard, with the appropriate alternatives, or accents.
Using these accents in your daily typing assignments is very easy, and also allows you to be a lot more clear with the meaning of the content, especially when you are trying to communicate with people or clients living in other parts of the world.
In this tutorial, we will show you how to use the accent keys on the Mac.
Table of Contents
Open up a text entry window or application on the Mac (Notes, Word, Pages, etc).
Start typing the content you want to phrase, into the text entry area.
Now, when you want to add an accent key, tap the corresponding key and keep it pressed to reveal an accent menu.
You can now choose the right accent key from the options, and the input will reflect that choice. It’s that simple. Obviously, not all keys on the keyboard, need accent keys, so the onus is on you to make sure you use the right key for the appropriate accent.
Also, the accent keys are compatible in all areas where you can input text, so you can be absolutely open about using these accent keys wherever you want.
