Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising – Sequel Announced

Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising, the successor to the successful fighting game Granblue Fantasy: Versus, has been formally announced by Cygames. While Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising isn’t a complete sequel, but rather an iterative variation of the previous game, Cygames is vastly enhancing and growing the new title. The most significant feature is the long-requested inclusion of cross-platform play and rollback netcode.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus’s absence of a rollback netcode has long been a running joke among the game’s fans. Several titles, including Dragon Ball FighterZ, Samurai Showdown, and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, unveiled or leaked the rollback netcode at EVO 2022. However, when Granblue Fantasy: Versus’ presentation came up and an online tournament with no plans for rollback netcode was disclosed, the fanbase was outraged, to say the least.

However, it turns out that Cygames was not dismissing the community’s desire for rollback netcode. Rather, it was working on the feature for Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising, its planned sequel. While the original version of the game will be abandoned, Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising should enable the game and its community to recover with renewed vigour. Rollback netcode and crossplay on platforms such as PC, PS4, and PS5 are excellent places to start.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus Rising is also getting a lot more content and expansion. Along with other new concepts, an even more powerful version of Plus Skills, Ultimate Skills, is being implemented. New characters and levels will be added to the roster of 24 in Granblue Fantasy: Versus. A fresh tale starts with an all-new Story Mode that expands on the previous chapters. Shaders and post-processing effects are being used to improve graphics, and this is only the beginning.
