God of War Ragnarok’s Producer Slams Online Spoilers and Leaks

It’s no secret that spoilers and leaks for God of War Ragnarok have been appearing online at an alarming rate in recent weeks, with producer Cory Barlog angrily revealing the source in a recent Twitter post. There’s no doubt that God of War Ragnarok is one of the most anticipated games of 2022, so for fans who prefer to go in blind, the sheer number of spoilers posted on Reddit, YouTube, and other platforms makes it extremely difficult to avoid.

Given that God of War Ragnarok is still a few days away from release, seeing so many of them on the internet can be discouraging. One could argue that they aren’t as bad as The Last of Us 2 leaks that surfaced online before the game’s release, but there’s enough out there to ruin key moments of the experiences. To stay as fresh as possible, fans are encouraged to avoid all social media and mute several keywords. But, without a doubt, many people are curious as to how this happened.

In a recent post, Cory Barlog stated that he can understand having an installer on a disc right now, implying that Modern Warfare 2’s disc has very little data on it, but he then revealed that a retailer had apparently sold copies of the game two weeks before its release. In other words, those who post videos, spoilers, and leaks online may have received their copies from a retailer before the official release date. This isn’t the first time something like this has occurred, but the fact remains that it has had a significant and widespread impact on franchise fans.

Cory Barlog is furious that fans must avoid spoilers, calling it “completely f*cking stupid” that some fans must do so. He clearly states that this is not how Santa Monica Studio intended the launch to go. Indeed, if even one fan has something ruined for them, the hype and anticipation for God of War Ragnarok could be completely destroyed.

To emphasize how prevalent they are, some comments on Cory Barlog’s thread include screenshots, links, and other references to leaked information. Sony and Santa Monica are no doubt doing everything they can to keep this under control, but fans should avoid going there for the time being. And it’s unfortunate that some retailers somewhere, as well as those who bought the game, may have ruined the experience for so many fans.
