Meaning – The word edit, refers to the action that allows the user to modify the data or any other element on the screen, as long as it falls in the editable category.
The edit option is usually found in the menu bar of the GUI, for the main OS or the application in use, and interacting with it reveals a drop-down menu that contains several relevant options for editing the data on the screen.
There are some elements that cannot be edited within the application, and in such cases, the edit option will not be enabled in order to prevent unnecessary change in core elements.
Example of usage – “She was working on a piece of art, and after completing most of it, she realized that there was a part of the artwork that needed to be changed. Luckily, the edit option within the application helped her make the changes without losing the progress she had made.”
